Episode Summary
In my weekly summary of what has been happening on the podcast this week I share the key insights and lessons I have gleaned from the last 7 days. These include:
- A new online counselling resource recommended by Tom Bilyeu at Impact Theory.
- How just talking about how I am feeling (with my girlfriend) helped me avoid dropping into another low.
- Why I have chosen to end the counselling sessions I’ve been having.
- What happened at my first appointment with the NHS.
- My introduction to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
- Why I am concerned that the NHS treatment isn’t going to be enough.
- A realisation that changes everything about how I probably need to move forward.
Episode Show Notes
00:12 – On Monday in the episode I called “An Online Counselling Provider That Seems Affordable And You Can Remain Anonymous“, I shared the details of a new online counselling resource recommended by Tom Bilyeu at Impact Theory. It is called www.BetterHelp.com.
00:50 – Tuesdays episode was about how I had averted a potential low by doing something I had previously avoided because I thought it was a sign of weakness. I now realise that sharing how you feel with someone else is a sign of strength.
02:18 – Wednesday’s episode was about a significant turning point in my journey towards feeling like I have “recovered”. I have decided to end my counselling sessions and in this episode I shared why.
02:59 – Thursday’s episode was called 131 At Last The NHS Therapy Arrives After 6 Months – But Will It Be Worth It?. I had my first appointment and I shared my thoughts on the experience.
03:42 – On Friday I shared my initial thoughts on ACT – Acceptance and Commitment Therapy after being recommended a book on the subject by my new NHS therapist.
04:15 – And then finally for this week, yesterday I reflected on the contents of a letter I received from the NHS therapist about my first appointment and their suggestions for moving forward. It raised a few alarm bells that I discuss in this episode.
